If there was ever a more fitting golf cart anthem for ODIN than Arrested Development’s 1992 anthem ‘People Everyday,’ we’d probably have to dig a little deeper into the record crate.
The four of us everyday golfers gave birth to ODIN on the track after copious amounts of tree and lake donations - I think Christoph hitting a stinger into the tree line was the last straw (although, who doesn’t like a cheeky punch-out from the eucalyptus grove?!).
We all gave each other that look - you know, the one where you empty your golf bag and spray marketing material all over the course - and further posited,
"Why aren’t we losing our own golf balls? Why are we losing balls of old, stuffy, expensive brands who don’t speak to us as the next generation of everyday golfers? We’re also digital natives who are consuming things in new, innovative ways.”
At that time (circa late-2020), we happened to be firing on all cylinders with the market timing. The golf universe was heating up like Reggie Miller in ‘95, and ultimately golf rounds hit 500 million in 2021 (and counting). But, golf as a sport still remained incredibly stuffy, expensive, unapproachable and elitist to everyday golfers like us.
Enter ODIN, stage right. What the old, stuffy brands did for professional golfers, we’re building the golf brand for the everyday golfer - no matter the background, experience or handicap. And because we’re all-inclusive, we want our community to personally benefit and partake in the value we create as a company (beyond just reloading on ODIN balls).
Consumers are inundated with all sorts of products and have a bevy of choices - and not just golf products (queue the FOMO Instagram posts...). In the future, it will no longer be enough to have a killer product experience, we as consumers will have a higher bar for the sort of value we extract from our everyday brands. This is where digital consumption is headed.
So, instead of the value hovering around the sphere of one Zuck or one Jeff, there are a million Zucks or Jeffs that benefit as a company grows. Come one, come all.
This is one of our core tenants at ODIN, and the future we’re building for everyday golfers. We want to give back to you personally. We’re not excited about the pros, we’re excited about you.
As the next brick on our journey, any golfer in our growing ecosystem who interacts with ODIN will get paid to play golf. Reload with the guilt and get paid. Use the money for anything golf related: cheaper green fees at any course, save on ODIN ball reloads, put it towards your lessons fund, or treat yourself to more grub and pops on Hole 19. This was never just another golf ball company for us, this is a platform for the everyday golfer.
